The
word of the LORD that came to Micah the Morasthite in the days of
Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning
Samaria and Jerusalem. |
| 2.
|
Hear,
all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let
the Lord GOD be witness against you, the LORD from his holy temple. |
| 3.
|
For,
behold, the LORD cometh forth out of his place, and will come down,
and tread upon the high places of the earth. |
| 4.
|
And
the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be
cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured
down a steep place. |
| 5.
|
For
the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the
house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria?
and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem? |
| 6.
|
Therefore
I will make Samaria as an heap of the field, and as plantings of
a vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley,
and I will discover the foundations thereof. |
| 7.
|
And
all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all
the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols
thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of
an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot. |
| 8.
|
Therefore
I will wail and howl, I will go stripped and naked: I will make
a wailing like the dragons, and mourning as the owls. |
| 9.
|
For
her wound is incurable; for it is come unto Judah; he is come unto
the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem. |
| 10.
|
Declare
ye it not at Gath, weep ye not at all: in the house of Aphrah roll
thyself in the dust. |
| 11.
|
Pass
ye away, thou inhabitant of Saphir, having thy shame naked: the
inhabitant of Zaanan came not forth in the mourning of Bethezel;
he shall receive of you his standing. |
| 12. |
For
the inhabitant of Maroth waited carefully for good: but evil came
down from the LORD unto the gate of Jerusalem. |
| 13. |
O
thou inhabitant of Lachish, bind the chariot to the swift beast:
she is the beginning of the sin to the daughter of Zion: for the
transgressions of Israel were found in thee. |
| 14. |
Therefore shalt thou give presents to Moreshethgath: the houses
of Achzib shall be a lie to the kings of Israel. |
| 15. |
Yet
will I bring an heir unto thee, O inhabitant of Mareshah: he shall
come unto Adullam the glory of Israel. |
| 16. |
Make
thee bald, and poll thee for thy delicate children; enlarge thy
baldness as the eagle; for they are gone into captivity from thee. |

for planting vineyards; and I will pour down the stones thereof
into the valley, and I will uncover the foundations thereof.
|

And

Pass

of Zaanan is not come forth; the wailing of Beth-ezel shall take
from you the stay thereof.
|
| 12. |
For
the inhabitant of Maroth waiteth anxiously for good, because evil
is come down from Jehovah unto the gate of Jerusalem.
|
| 13. |
Bind

I
will yet bring unto thee, O inhabitant of Mareshah, him that shall

will I make Samaria as a heap of the field, as plantings of a vineyard;

shall be burned with fire, and all her idols will I lay desolate;
for of the hire of a prostitute has she gathered them, and to the
hire of a prostitute shall they return.
|
| 8.
|
For
this will I lament and wail; I will go stripped and naked; I will
make a wailing like the jackals, and a lamentation like the ostriches.

|
The
word of the Lord which came to Micah the Morashtite, in the days
of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah: his vision about
Samaria and Jerusalem.
|
| 2.
|
Give
ear, you peoples, all of you; give attention, O earth and everything
in it: let the Lord God be witness against you, the Lord from his
holy Temple.
|
| 3.
|
For
see, the Lord is coming out from his place, and will come down,
stepping on the high places of the earth.
|
| 4.
|
And
the mountains will be turned to water under him, and the deep valleys
will be broken open, like wax before the fire, like waters flowing
down a slope.
|
| 5.
|
All
this is because of the wrongdoing of Jacob and the sins of the children
of Israel. What is the wrongdoing of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and
what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem?
|
| 6.
|
So
I will make Samaria into a field and the plantings of a vine-garden:
I will send its stones falling down into the valley, uncovering
its bases.
|
| 7.
|
And
all her pictured images will be hammered into bits, and all the
payments for her loose ways will be burned with fire, and all the
images of her gods I will make waste: for with the price of a loose
woman she got them together, and as the price of a loose woman will
they be given back.
|
| 8.
|
For
this I will be full of sorrow and give cries of grief; I will go
uncovered and unclothed: I will give cries of grief like the jackals
and will be in sorrow like the ostriches.
|
| 9.
|
For
her wounds may not be made well: for it has come even to Judah,
stretching up to the doorway of my people, even to Jerusalem.
|
| 10.
|
Give
no word of it in Gath, let there be no weeping at all: at Beth-le-aphrah
be rolling in the dust.
|
| 11.
|
Be
uncovered and go away, you who are living in Shaphir: the one living
in Zaanan has not come out of her town; Beth-ezel is taken away
from its base, even from its resting-place.
|
| 12. |
For
the one living in Maroth is waiting for good: for evil has come
down from the Lord to the doorways of Jerusalem.
|
| 13. |
Let
the war-carriage be yoked to the quick-running horse, you who are
living in Lachish: she was the first cause of sin to the daughter
of Zion; for the wrongdoings of Israel were seen in you.
|
| 14. |
For
this cause give a parting offering to Moresheth-gath: the daughter
of Achzib will be a deceit to the king of Israel.
|
| 15. |
Even
now will the taker of your heritage come to you, you who are living
in Mareshah: the glory of Israel will come to destruction for ever.
|
| 16. |
Let
your head be uncovered and your hair cut off in sorrow for the children
of your delight: let the hair be pulled from your head like an eagle's;
for they have been taken away from you as prisoners.
|
|
| 1.
|
A
word of Jehovah that hath been unto Micah the Morashite in the days
of Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah, kings of Judah, that he hath seen concerning
Samaria and Jerusalem:
|
| 2.
|
Hear,
O peoples, all of them! Attend, O earth, and its fulness, And the
Lord Jehovah is against you for a witness, The Lord from His holy
temple.
|
| 3.
|
For
lo, Jehovah is going out from His place, And He hath come down,
And hath trodden on high places of earth.
|
| 4.
|
Melted
have been the mountains under Him, And the valleys do rend themselves,
As wax from the presence of fire, As waters cast down by a slope.
|
| 5.
|
For
the transgression of Jacob is all this, And for the sins
of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob?
Is it not Samaria? And what the high places of Judah? Is it not
Jerusalem?
|
| 6.
|
And
I have set Samaria for a heap of the field, For plantations of a
vineyard, And poured out into a valley her stones, And her foundations
I uncover.
|
| 7.
|
And
all her graven images are beaten down, And all her gifts are burnt
with fire, And all her idols I make a desolation, For, from the
hire of a harlot she gathered, and unto the hire of a harlot they
return.
|
| 8.
|
For
this I lament and howl, I go spoiled and naked, I make a lamentation
like dragons, And a mourning like daughters of an ostrich.
|
| 9.
|
For
mortal are her wounds, For it hath come unto Judah, It hath
come to a gate of My people -- to Jerusalem.
|
| 10.
|
In
Gath tell ye not -- in Acco weep not, In Beth-Aphrah, in dust roll
thyself.
|
| 11.
|
Pass
over for thee, O inhabitant of Shaphir, Naked one of shame. Not
gone out hath the inhabitant of Zaanan, The lamentation of Beth-Ezel
doth take from you its standing.
|
| 12. |
For
stayed for good hath the inhabitant of Maroth, For evil hath come
down from Jehovah to the gate of Jerusalem.
|
| 13. |
Bind
the chariot to a swift beast, O inhabitant of Lachish, The beginning
of sin is she to the daughter of Zion, For in thee have been
found the transgressions of Israel.
|
| 14. |
Therefore
thou givest presents to Moresheth-Gath, The houses of Achzib become
a lying thing to the kings of Israel.
|
| 15. |
Yet
the possessor I do bring in to thee, O inhabitant of Mareshah, To
Adullam come in doth the honour of Israel.
|
| 16. |
Make
bald and shave, for thy delightful sons, Enlarge thy baldness as
an eagle, For they have removed from thee!
|
|
| 1.
|
The
word of the Lord that came to Micheas the Morasthite, in the days
of Joathan, Achaz, and Ezechias, kings of Juda: which he saw concerning
Samaria and Jerusalem.
|
| 2.
|
Hear,
all ye people: and let the earth give ear, and all that is therein:
and let the Lord God be a witness to you, the Lord from his holy
temple.
|
| 3.
|
For
behold the Lord will come forth out of his place: and he will come
down, and will tread upon the high places of the earth.
|
| 4.
|
And
the mountains shall be melted under him: and the valleys shall be
cleft, as wax before the fire, and as waters that run down a steep
place.
|
| 5.
|
For
the wickedness of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house
of Israel. What is the wickedness of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and
what are the high places of Juda? are they not Jerusalem?
|
| 6.
|
And
I will make Samaria as a heap of stones in the field when a vineyard
is planted: and I will bring down the stones thereof into the valley,
and will lay her foundations bare.
|
| 7.
|
And
all her graven things shall be cut in pieces, and all her wages
shall be burnt with fire, and I will bring to destruction all her
idols: for they were gathered together of the hire of a harlot,
and unto the hire of a harlot they shall return.
|
| 8.
|
Therefore
will I lament and howl: I will go stripped and naked: I will make
a wailing like the dragons, and a mourning like the ostriches.
|
| 9.
|
Because
her wound is desperate, because it is come even to Juda, it hath
touched the gate of my people even to Jerusalem.
|
| 10.
|
Declare
ye it not in Geth, weep ya not with tears: in the house of Dust
sprinkle yourselves with dust.
|
| 11.
|
And
pass away, O thou that dwellest in the Beautiful place, covered
with thy shame: she went not forth that dwelleth in the confines:
the House adjoining shall receive mourning from you, which stood
by herself.
|
| 12. |
For
she is become weak unto good that dwelleth in bitterness: for evil
is come down from the Lord into the gate of Jerusalem.
|
| 13. |
A
tumult of chariots hath astonished the inhabitants of Lachis: it
is the beginning of sin to the daughter of Sion, for in thee were
found the crimes of Israel.
|
| 14. |
Therefore
shall she send messengers to the inheritance of Geth : the houses
of lying to deceive the kings of Israel.
|
| 15. |
Yet
will I bring an heir to thee that dwellest in Maresa: even to Odollam
shall the glory of Israel come.
|
| 16. |
Make
thee bald, and be polled for thy delicate children: enlarge thy
baldness as the eagle: for they are carried into captivity from
thee.
|
|
| 1.
|
The
word of Jehovah that came unto Hosea the son of Beeri, in the days
of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the
days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel. |
| 2.
|
When
Jehovah spake at the first by Hosea, Jehovah said unto Hosea, Go,
take unto thee a wife of whoredom and children of whoredom; for
the land doth commit great whoredom, departing from Jehovah.
|
| 3.
|
So
he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; and she conceived,
and bare him a son. |
| 4.
|
And
Jehovah said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while,
and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and
will cause the kingdom of the house of Israel to cease. |
| 5.
|
And
it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of
Israel in the valley of Jezreel. |
| 6.
|
And
she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And Jehovah said
unto him, Call her name Lo-ruhamah; for I will no more have mercy
upon the house of Israel, that I should in any wise pardon them.
|
| 7.
|
But
I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by
Jehovah their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword,
nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen. |
| 8.
|
Now
when she had weaned Lo-ruhamah, she conceived, and bare a son.
|
| 9.

And
Jehovah said, Call his name Lo-ammi; for ye are not my people,
and I will not be your God. |
| 10.
|
Yet
the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the
sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to
pass that, in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not
my people, it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of
the living God. |
| 11.
|
And
the children of Judah and the children of Israel shall be gathered
together, and they shall appoint themselves one head, and shall
go up from the land; for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

The
word of Jehovah that came unto Hosea the son of Beeri, in the days
of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the
days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel. |
| 2.
|
When
Jehovah spake at the first by Hosea, Jehovah said unto Hosea, Go,
take unto thee a wife of whoredom and children of whoredom; for
the land doth commit great whoredom, departing from Jehovah.
|
| 3.
|
So
he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; and she conceived,
and bare him a son. |
| 4.
|
And
Jehovah said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while,
and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and
will cause the kingdom of the house of Israel to cease. |
| 5.
|
And
it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of
Israel in the valley of Jezreel. |
| 6.
|
And
she conceived again, and bare a daughter.
|
|
|
|
|
