In
the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first
day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet
unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to
Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying, |
| 2.
|
Thus
speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is
not come, the time that the LORD's house should be built. |
| 3.
|
Then
came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying, |
| 4.
|
Is
it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this
house lie waste? |
| 5.
|
Now
therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. |
| 6.
|
Ye
have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough;
ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there
is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it
into a bag with holes. |
| 7.
|
Thus
saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. |
| 8.
|
Go
up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will
take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD. |
| 9.

Ye
looked for much, and, lo it came to little; and when ye brought
it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because
of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house. |
| 10.
|
Therefore
the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed
from her fruit. |
| 11.
|
And
I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and
upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon
that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle,
and upon all the labour of the hands. |
| 12. |
Then
Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech,

the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year
of Darius the king.
|
|
| 1.
|
In
the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first
day of the month, the Word of Yahweh came by Haggai, the prophet,
to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua,
the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,
|
| 2.
|
"This
is what Yahweh of Hosts says: These people say, 'The time hasn't
yet come, the time for Yahweh's house to be built.'"
|
| 3.
|
Then
the Word of Yahweh came by Haggai, the prophet, saying
|
| 4.
|
"Is
it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, while
this house lies waste?
|
| 5.
|
Now
therefore this is what Yahweh of Hosts says: Consider your ways.
|
| 6.
|
You
have sown much, and bring in little. You eat, but you don't have
enough. You drink, but you aren't filled with drink. You clothe
yourselves, but no one is warm, and he who earns wages earns wages
to put them into a bag with holes in it."
|
| 7.
|
This
is what Yahweh of Hosts says: "Consider your ways.
|
| 8.
|
Go
up to the mountain, bring wood, and build the house. I will take
pleasure in it, and I will be glorified," says Yahweh.
|
| 9.
|
"You
looked for much, and, behold, it came to little; and when you brought
it home, I blew it away. Why?" says Yahweh of Hosts, "Because of
my house that lies waste, while each of you is busy with his own
house.
|
| 10.
|
Therefore
for your sake the heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholds
its fruit.

of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high
priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they
came and worked on the house of Yahweh of Hosts, their God,

governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech,

their God,
|
| 15. |
In
the four and twentieth day of the same month, in the second year
of Darius the king.
|
|
| 1.
|
In
the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first
day of the month, came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet
to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, ruler of Judah, and to Joshua,
the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,
|
| 2.
|
These
are the words of the Lord of armies: These people say, The time
has not come for building the Lord's house.
|
| 3.
|
Then
the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying,
|
| 4.
|
Is
it a time for you to be living in roofed houses while this house
is a waste?
|
| 5.
|
For
this cause the Lord of armies has said, Give thought to your ways.
|
| 6.
|
Much
has been planted, but little got in; you take food, but have not
enough; you take drink, but are not full; you are clothed, but no
one is warm; and he who gets payment for his work, gets it to put
it into a bag full of holes.
|
| 7.
|
This
is what the Lord of armies has said: Give thought to your ways.
|
| 8.
|
Go
up to the hills and get wood and put up the house; and I will take
pleasure in it and be honoured, says the Lord.
|
| 9.
|
You
were looking for much, and it came to little; and when you got it
into your house, I took it away with a breath. Why? says the Lord
of armies. Because of my house which is a waste, while every man
takes care of the house which is his.
|
| 10.
|
For
this cause the heaven over you is kept from giving dew, and the
earth from giving her fruit.
|
| 11.
|
And
by my order no rain came on the land or on the mountains or the
grain or the wine or the oil or the produce of the earth or on men
or cattle or on any work of man's hands.
|
| 12. |
Then
Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua, the son of Jehozadak,
the high priest, and all the rest of the people, gave ear to the
voice of the Lord their God and to the words of Haggai the prophet,
because the Lord their God had sent him, and the people were in
fear before the Lord.
|
| 13. |
Then
Haggai, whom the Lord had sent to give his words to the people,
said, I am with you, says the Lord.
|
| 14. |
And
the spirit of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, ruler of Judah,
was moved by the Lord, as was the spirit of Joshua, the son of Jehozadak,
the high priest, and the spirit of all the rest of the people; and
they came and did work in the house of the Lord of armies, their
God.

On
the twenty-fourth day of the month, in the sixth month, in the second
year of Darius the king.
|
|
| 1.
|
In
the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first
day of the month, hath a word of Jehovah been by the hand of Haggai
the prophet, unto Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah,
and unto Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest, saying:
|
| 2.
|
Thus
spake Jehovah of Hosts, saying: This people! -- they have said,
'The time hath not come, The time the house of Jehovah is
to be built.'
|
| 3.
|
And
there is a word of Jehovah by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:
|
| 4.
|
Is
it time for you -- you! To dwell in your covered houses, And this
house to lie waste?
|
| 5.
|
And
now, thus said Jehovah of Hosts, Set your heart to your ways.
|
| 6.
|
Ye
have sown much, and brought in little, To eat, and not to satiety,
To drink, and not to drunkenness, To clothe, and none hath heat,
And he who is hiring himself out, Is hiring himself for a bag pierced
through.
|
| 7.
|
Thus
said Jehovah of Hosts: Set your heart to your ways.
|
| 8.
|
Go
up the mountain, and ye have brought in wood, And build the house,
and I am pleased with it. And I am honoured, said Jehovah.
|
| 9.
|
Looking
for much, and lo, little, And ye brought it home, and I blew
on it, Wherefore? -- an affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, Because
of My house that is waste, And ye are running -- each to his house,
|
| 10.
|
Therefore,
over you refrained have the heavens from dew, And the land hath
refrained its increase.
|
| 11.
|
And
I proclaim draught on the land, And on the mountains, and on the
corn, And on the new wine, and on the oil, And on what the ground
doth bring forth, And on man, and on beast, And on all labour of
the hands.'
|
| 12. |
And
Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Joshua son of Josedech, the high
priest, and all the remnant of the people, do hearken to the voice
of Jehovah their God, and unto the words of Haggai the prophet,
as Jehovah their God had sent him, and the people are afraid of
the face of Jehovah.
|
| 13. |
And
Haggai, messenger of Jehovah, in messages of Jehovah, speaketh to
the people, saying: 'I am with you, an affirmation of Jehovah.'
|
| 14. |
And
Jehovah doth stir up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel,
governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Josedech, the
high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and
they come in, and do work in the house of Jehovah of Hosts their
God,
|
| 15. |
in
the twenty and fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year
of Darius the king.
|
|
| 1.
|
In
the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first
day of the month, the word of the Lord came by the hand of Aggeus
the prophet, to Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, governor of Juda,
and to Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, saying:
|
| 2.
|
Thus
saith the Lord of hosts, saying: This people saith: The time is
not yet come for building the house of the Lord.
|
| 3.
|
And
the word of the Lord came by the hand of Aggeus the prophet, saying:
|
| 4.
|
Is
it time for you to dwell in ceiled houses, and this house lie desolate?
|
| 5.
|
And
now thus saith the Lord of hosts: Set your hearts to consider your
ways.
|
| 6.
|
You
have sowed much, and brought in little: you have eaten, but have
not had enough: you have drunk, but have not been filled with drink:
you have clothed yourselves, but have not been warmed: and he that
hath earned wages, put them into a bag with holes.
|
| 7.
|
Thus
saith the Lord of hosts: Set Your hearts upon your ways:
|
| 8.
|
Go
up to the mountain, bring timber, and build the house: and it shall
be acceptable to me, and I shall be glorified, saith the Lord.
|
| 9.
|
You
have looked for more, and behold it became less, and you brought
it home, and I blowed it away: why, saith the Lord of hosts? because
my house is desolate, and you make haste every man to his own house.
|
| 10.
|
Therefore
the heavens over you were stayed from giving dew, and the earth
was hindered from yielding her fruits:
|
| 11.
|
And
I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and
upon the corn, and upon the wine, and upon the oil, and upon all
that the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon beasts, and
upon all the labour of the hands.
|
| 12. |
Then
Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, and Jesus the son of Josedec the
high priest, and all the remnant of the people hearkened to the
voice of the Lord their God, and to the words of Aggeus the prophet,
as the Lord their God sent him to them: and the people feared before
the Lord.
|
| 13. |
And
Aggeus the messenger of the Lord, as one of the messengers of the
Lord, spoke, saying to the people: I am with you, saith the Lord.
|
| 14. |
And
the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zorobabel the son of Salathiel
governor of Juda, and the spirit of Jesus the son of Josedec the
high priest, and the spirit of all the rest of the people: and they
went in, and did the work in the house of the Lord of hosts their
God.

|
| 1.
|
The
word of Jehovah that came unto Hosea the son of Beeri, in the days
of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the
days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel. |
| 2.
|
When
Jehovah spake at the first by Hosea, Jehovah said unto Hosea, Go,
take unto thee a wife of whoredom and children of whoredom; for
the land doth commit great whoredom, departing from Jehovah.
|
| 3.
|
So
he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; and she conceived,
and bare him a son. |
| 4.
|
And
Jehovah said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while,
and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and
will cause the kingdom of the house of Israel to cease. |
| 5.
|
And
it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of
Israel in the valley of Jezreel. |
| 6.
|
And
she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And Jehovah said
unto him, Call her name Lo-ruhamah; for I will no more have mercy
upon the house of Israel, that I should in any wise pardon them.
|
| 7.
|
But
I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by
Jehovah their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword,
nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen. |
| 8.
|
Now
when she had weaned Lo-ruhamah, she conceived, and bare a son.
|
| 9.
|
And
Jehovah said, Call his name Lo-ammi; for ye are not my people,
and I will not be your God. |
| 10.
|
Yet
the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the
sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to
pass that, in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not
my people, it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of
the living God. |
| 11.

And
the children of Judah and the children of Israel shall be gathered
together, and they shall appoint themselves one head, and shall
go up from the land; for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

|
The
word of Jehovah that came unto Hosea the son of Beeri, in the days
of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the
days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel. |
| 2.
|
When
Jehovah spake at the first by Hosea, Jehovah said unto Hosea, Go,
take unto thee a wife of whoredom and children of whoredom; for
the land doth commit great whoredom, departing from Jehovah.
|
| 3.
|
So
he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; and she conceived,
and bare him a son. |
| 4.
|
And
Jehovah said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while,
and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and
will cause the kingdom of the house of Israel to cease. |
| 5.
|
And
it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of
Israel in the valley of Jezreel. |
| 6.
|
And
she conceived again, and bare a daughter.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
