|
Now
king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with
clothes, but he gat no heat. |
| 2.
|
Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my
lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king,
and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord
the king may get heat. |
| 3.
|
So
they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel,
and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king. |
| 4.
|
And
the damsel was very fair, and cherished the king, and ministered
to him: but the king knew her not. |
| 5.
|
Then
Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king:
and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run
before him. |
| 6.
|
And
his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast
thou done so? and he also was a very goodly man; and his mother
bare him after Absalom. |
| 7.
|
And
he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the
priest: and they following Adonijah helped him. |
| 8.
|
But
Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the
prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men which belonged
to David, were not with Adonijah. |
| 9.
|
And
Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fat cattle by the stone of Zoheleth,
which is by Enrogel, and called all his brethren the king's sons,
and all the men of Judah the king's servants: |
| 10.
|
But Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon
his brother, he called not. |
| 11.
|
Wherefore
Nathan spake unto Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast
thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith doth reign, and
David our lord knoweth it not? |
| 12.
|
Now
therefore come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counsel, that thou
mayest save thine own life, and the life of thy son Solomon. |
| 13.
|
Go
and get thee in unto king David, and say unto him, Didst not thou,
my lord, O king, swear unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon
thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? why
then doth Adonijah reign? |
| 14.
|
Behold,
while thou yet talkest there with the king, I also will come in
after thee, and confirm thy words. |
| 15.
|
And
Bathsheba went in unto the king into the chamber: and the king was
very old; and Abishag the Shunammite ministered unto the king. |
| 16.
|
And
Bathsheba bowed, and did obeisance unto the king. And the king said,
What wouldest thou? |
| 17.
|
And she said unto him, My lord, thou swarest by the LORD thy God
unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign
after me, and he shall sit upon my throne. |
| 18.
|
And now, behold, Adonijah reigneth; and now, my lord the king, thou
knowest it not: |
| 19.
|
And
he hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath
called all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab
the captain of the host: but Solomon thy servant hath he not called. |
| 20.
|
And
thou, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel are upon thee, that
thou shouldest tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord
the king after him. |
| 21.
|
Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep
with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders. |
| 22.
|
And,
lo, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet also
came in. |
| 23. |
And
they told the king, saying, Behold Nathan the prophet. And when
he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king
with his face to the ground. |
| 24. |
And
Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou said, Adonijah shall reign
after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? |
| 25. |
For
he is gone down this day, and hath slain oxen and fat cattle and
sheep in abundance, and hath called all the king's sons, and the
captains of the host, and Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they
eat and drink before him, and say, God save king Adonijah. |
| 26. |
But
me, even me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son
of Jehoiada, and thy servant Solomon, hath he not called. |
| 27. |
Is
this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not showed it
unto thy servant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king
after him? |
| 28. |
Then
king David answered and said, Call me Bathsheba. And she came into
the king's presence, and stood before the king. |
| 29. |
And
the king sware, and said, As the LORD liveth, that hath redeemed
my soul out of all distress, |
| 30. |
Even
as I sware unto thee by the LORD God of Israel, saying, Assuredly
Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne
in my stead; even so will I certainly do this day. |
| 31. |
Then
Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to
the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever. |
| 32. |
And
king David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet,
and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king. |
| 33. |
The
king also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord,
and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him
down to Gihon: |
| 34. |
And
let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king
over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, God save king
Solomon. |
| 35. |
Then
ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit upon my throne;
for he shall be king in my stead: and I have appointed him to be
ruler over Israel and over Judah. |
| 36. |
And
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen: the
LORD God of my lord the king say so too. |
| 37. |
As
the LORD hath been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon,
and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David. |
| 38. |
So
Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of
Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, went down, and
caused Solomon to ride upon king David's mule, and brought him to
Gihon. |
| 39. |
And
Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and
anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people
said, God save king Solomon. |
| 40. |
And
all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes,
and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound
of them. |
| 41. |
And
Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard it as they
had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the
trumpet, he said, Wherefore is this noise of the city being in an
uproar? |
| 42. |
And
while he yet spake, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest
came; and Adonijah said unto him, Come in; for thou art a valiant
man, and bringest good tidings. |
| 43. |
And
Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily our lord king David
hath made Solomon king. |
| 44. |
And
the king hath sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet,
and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites,
and they have caused him to ride upon the king's mule: |
| 45. |
And
Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in
Gihon: and they are come up from thence rejoicing, so that the city
rang again. This is the noise that ye have heard. |
| 46. |
And
also Solomon sitteth on the throne of the kingdom. |
| 47. |
And
moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David,
saying, God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make
his throne greater than thy throne. And the king bowed himself upon
the bed. |
| 48. |
And
also thus said the king, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which
hath given one to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even seeing
it. |
| 49. |
And
all the guests that were with Adonijah were afraid, and rose up,
and went every man his way. |
| 50. |
And
Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose, and went, and caught
hold on the horns of the altar. |
| 51. |
And
it was told Solomon, saying, Behold, Adonijah feareth king Solomon:
for, lo, he hath caught hold on the horns of the altar, saying,
Let king Solomon swear unto me today that he will not slay his servant
with the sword. |
| 52. |
And
Solomon said, If he will show himself a worthy man, there shall
not an hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness shall be
found in him, he shall die. |
| 53. |
So
king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And
he came and bowed himself to king Solomon: and Solomon said unto
him, Go to thine house. |
|
| 1.
|
Now
king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with

|

Wherefore

| 46. |
And
also Solomon sitteth on the throne of the kingdom. |
| 47. |
And
moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David,
saying, Thy God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and
make his throne greater than thy throne, and the king bowed himself
upon the bed. |
| 48. |
And
also thus said the king, Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel,
which hath given one to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even
seeing it. |
| 49. |
And
all the guests of Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and went every
man his way. |
| 50. |
And
Adonijah feared because of Solomon; and he arose, and went, and
caught hold on the horns of the altar. |
| 51. |
And
it was told Solomon, saying, Behold, Adonijah feareth king Solomon:
for, lo, he hath laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let
king Solomon swear unto me this day that he wilt not slay his servant
with the sword. |
| 52. |
And
Solomon said, If he shall shew himself a worthy man, there shall
not an hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness be found
in him, he shall die. |
| 53. |
So
king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And
he came and did obeisance to king Solomon: and Solomon said unto
him, Go to thine house. |
|
| 1.
|
And
king David was old and advanced in age; and they covered
him with clothes, but he obtained no warmth.
|
| 2.
|
And
his servants said to him, Let there be found for my lord the king
a young virgin; and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish
him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get
warm.
|
| 3.
|
And
they sought for a fair damsel throughout the territory of Israel,
and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
|
| 4.
|
And
the damsel was very fair; and cherished the king, and ministered
to him; but the king knew her not.
|
| 5.
|
And
Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king;
and he provided himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to
run before him.
|
| 6.
|
And
his father had not grieved him at any time in saying, Why doest
thou so? and he was also a very comely man; and his mother
bore him after Absalom.
|
| 7.
|
And
he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the
priest; and they helped Adonijah and followed him.
|
| 8.
|
But
Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the
prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men whom David had,
were not with Adonijah.
|
| 9.
|
And
Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and fatted cattle by the stone
of Zoheleth, which is by En-rogel, and invited all his brethren,
the king`s sons, and all the men of Judah, the king`s servants;
|
| 10.
|
but
Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon
his brother, he did not invite.
|
| 11.
|
And
Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou
not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith is king, and David our
lord does not know it?
|
| 12.
|
And
now, come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counsel, that thou mayest
save thine own life, and the life of thy son Solomon.
|
| 13.
|
Go
and get thee in to king David, and say to him, Didst not thou, my
lord, O king, swear to thy handmaid saying, Solomon thy son shall
reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne? why then does Adonijah
reign?
|
| 14.
|
Behold,
while thou yet talkest there with the king, I also will come in
after thee and confirm thy words.
|
| 15.
|
And
Bathsheba went in to the king into the chamber; and the king was
very old; and Abishag the Shunammite ministered to the king.
|
| 16.
|
And
Bathsheba bowed and did obeisance to the king. And the king said,
What wouldest thou?
|
| 17.
|
And
she said to him, My lord, thou hast sworn by Jehovah thy God to
thy handmaid, saying, Solomon thy son shall reign after me,
and he shall sit on my throne.
|
| 18.
|
And
now behold, Adonijah is king; and now, my lord the king, thou knowest
it not.
|
| 19.
|
And
he has sacrificed oxen and fatted cattle and sheep in abundance,
and has invited all the sons of the king and Abiathar the priest
and Joab the captain of the host; but Solomon thy servant has he
not invited.
|
| 20.
|
And
thou, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are upon thee, that
thou shouldest tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord
the king after him.
|
| 21.
|
Otherwise
it shall come to pass when my lord the king shall sleep with his
fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be counted offenders.
|
| 22.
|
And
behold, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet also
came in.
|
| 23. |
And
they told the king saying, Behold, Nathan the prophet. And when
he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king
with his face to the ground.
|
| 24. |
And
Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou said, Adonijah shall reign
after me, and he shall sit on my throne?
|
| 25. |
For
he is gone down this day, and has sacrificed oxen and fatted cattle
and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king`s sons, and
the captains of the host, and Abiathar the priest; and behold, they
eat and drink before him, and say, God save king Adonijah!
|
| 26. |
But
me, even me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah
the son of Jehoiada, and thy servant Solomon, he has not invited.
|
| 27. |
Is
this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not shewn to
thy servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after
him?
|
| 28. |
Then
king David answered and said, Call me Bathsheba. And she came into
the king`s presence, and stood before the king.
|
| 29. |
And
the king swore, and said, As Jehovah liveth, who has redeemed
my soul out of all distress,
|
| 30. |
even
as I swore to thee by Jehovah the God of Israel, saying, Solomon
thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my
stead; even so will I certainly do this day.
|
| 31. |
And
Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to
the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever.
|
| 32. |
And
king David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet,
and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king.
|
| 33. |
And
the king said to them, Take with you the servants of your lord,
and cause Solomon my son to ride upon mine own mule, and bring him
down to Gihon;
|
| 34. |
and
let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king
over Israel; and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, Long live king
Solomon!
|
| 35. |
And
ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit on my throne;
for he shall reign in my stead, and I have appointed him to be ruler
over Israel and over Judah.
|
| 36. |
And
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king and said, Amen: Jehovah,
the God of my lord the king, say so too.
|
| 37. |
As
Jehovah has been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon,
and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.
|
| 38. |
And
Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of
Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites went down, and
caused Solomon to ride upon king David`s mule, and brought him to
Gihon.
|
| 39. |
And
Zadok the priest took the horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and
anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people
said, Long live king Solomon!
|
| 40. |
And
all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes,
and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound
of them.
|
| 41. |
And
Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard it as
they were finishing their repast; and Joab heard the sound of the
trumpet, and he said, Wherefore this noise of the city in an uproar?
|
| 42.. |
While
he yet spoke, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came;
and Adonijah said to him, Come in; for thou art a valiant
man, and bringest good news.
|
| 43. |
And
Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Indeed, our lord king David
has made Solomon king.
|
| 44. |
And
the king has sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet,
and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites,
and they have caused him to ride upon the king`s mule;
|
| 45. |
and
Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king at
Gihon; and they are come up from thence rejoicing, so that the city
is in an uproar. This is the noise which ye have heard.
|
| 46. |
And
also Solomon is sitting on the throne of the kingdom.
|
| 47. |
And
moreover the king`s servants came to bless our lord king David,
saying, Thy God make the name of Solomon more excellent than thy
name, and make his throne greater than thy throne! And the king
bowed himself on the bed.
|
| 48. |
And
also thus said the king: Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel,
who has given one to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even seeing
it.
|
| 49. |
And
all Adonijah`s guests were afraid, and rose up and went every man

|
| 50. |
And
Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose and went and caught

|
| 51. |
And
it was told Solomon saying, Behold, Adonijah fears king Solomon;
for behold, he has caught hold of the horns of the altar, saying,
Let king Solomon swear to me this day that he will not put his servant
to death with the sword.
|
| 52. |
And
Solomon said, If he be a worthy man, there shall not one of his
hairs fall to the earth; but if wickedness be found in him, he shall
die.
|
| 53. |
And
king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And
he came and bowed himself to king Solomon; and Solomon said to him,
Go to thy house.
|
|
| 1.
|
Now
king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with
clothes, but he got no heat.
|
| 2.
|
Therefore
his servants said to him, Let there be sought for my lord the king
a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and cherish him;
and let her lie in your bosom, that my lord the king may keep warm.
|
| 3.
|
So
they sought for a beautiful young lady throughout all the borders
of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to
the king.
|
| 4.
|
The
young lady was very beautiful; and she cherished the king, and ministered
to him; but the king didn't know her intimately.
|
| 5.
|
Then
Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king:
and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run

|
| 6.

His

Absalom.
|
| 7.

|

But

David, were not with Adonijah.
|
| 9.
|
Adonijah
killed sheep and oxen and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which
is beside En-rogel; and he called all his brothers, the king`s sons,
and all the men of Judah, the king`s servants:
|
| 10.
|
but
Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon
his brother, he didn`t call.
|
| 11.
|
Then
Nathan spoke to Bath-sheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Haven't
you heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns, and David our
lord doesn`t know it?
|
| 12.
|
Now
therefore come, please let me give you counsel, that you may save
your own life, and the life of your son Solomon.
|
| 13.

|

|
| 17.
|
She
said to him, My lord, you swore by Yahweh your God to your handmaid,
saying, Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me,
and he shall sit on my throne.
|
| 18.
|
Now,
behold, Adonijah reigns; and you, my lord the king, don't know it:
|
| 19.
|
and
he has slain oxen and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has called
all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the
captain of the host; but he hasn`t called Solomon your servant.
|
| 20.
|
You,
my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, that you should
tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after
him.
|
| 21.
|
Otherwise
it will happen, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers,
that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders.
|
| 22.
|
Behold,
while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet came in.
|
| 23. |
They
told the king, saying, Behold, Nathan the prophet. When he was come
in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face
to the ground.
|
| 24. |
Nathan
said, My lord, king, have you said, Adonijah shall reign after me,
and he shall sit on my throne?
|
| 25. |
For
he is gone down this day, and has slain oxen and fatlings and sheep
in abundance, and has called all the king's sons, and the captains

|
| 27. |
Is

him?
|
| 28. |
Then
king David answered, Call to me Bath-sheba. She came into the king's
presence, and stood before the king.
|
| 29. |
The
king swore, and said, As Yahweh lives, who has redeemed my soul
out of all adversity,
|
| 30. |
most
assuredly as I swore to you by Yahweh, the God of Israel, saying,
Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit
on my throne in my place; most assuredly so will I do this day.
|
| 31. |
Then
Bath-sheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did obeisance to
the king, and said, Let my lord king David live forever.
|
| 32. |
King
David said, Call to me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet,
and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. They came before the king.
|
| 33. |
The
king said to them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and

Then
you shall come up after him, and he shall come and sit on my throne;
for he shall be king in my place; and I have appointed him to be
prince over Israel and over Judah.
|
| 36. |
Benaiah
the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen: Yahweh, the
God of my lord the king, say so too.
|
| 37. |
As

caused Solomon to ride on king David's mule, and brought him to
Gihon.
|
| 39. |
Zadok
the priest took the horn of oil out of the Tent, and anointed Solomon.
They blew the trumpet; and all the people said, Long live
king Solomon.
|
| 40. |
All
the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and
rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth shook with the sound
of them.
|
| 41. |
Adonijah
and all the guests who were with him heard it as they had made an
end of eating. When Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said,
Why is this noise of the city being in an uproar?
|
| 42. |
While
he yet spoke, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came:
and Adonijah said, Come in; for you are a worthy man, and bring
good news.
|
| 43. |
Jonathan
answered Adonijah, Most assuredly our lord king David has made Solomon
king:
|
| 44. |
and
the king has sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet,
and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites;

Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen: the
LORD God of my lord the king say so too.
|
| 37. |
As
the LORD hath been with my lord the king, even so let him be with
Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord
king David.
|
| 38. |
So
Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of
Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, went down, and
caused Solomon to ride upon king David's mule, and brought him to
Gihon.
|
| 39. |
And
Zadok the priest took a horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed
Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God
save king Solomon.
|
| 40. |
And
all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes,
and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound
of them.
|
| 41. |
And
Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard it as they
had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the
trumpet, he said, Why is this noise of the city being in an uproar?
|
| 42. |
And
while he yet spoke, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest
came: and Adonijah said to him, Come in; for thou art a valiant
man, and bringest good tidings.
|
| 43. |
And
Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily our lord king David
hath made Solomon king.
|
| 44. |
And
the king hath sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet,
and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites,
and they have caused him to ride upon the king's mule:
|
| 45. |
And
Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in
Gihon: and they have come from thence rejoicing, so that the city
resounded.
|
|
And the king bowed himself upon
the bed.
|
| 48. |
And
also thus said the king, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who
hath given one to sit on my throne this day, my eyes even seeing
it.
|
| 49. |
And
all the guests that were with Adonijah were afraid, and arose, and
went every man his way.
|
| 50. |
And
Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose, and went, and caught
hold on the horns of the altar.
|
| 51. |
And
it was told Solomon, saying, Behold, Adonijah feareth king Solomon:
for lo, he hath caught hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let
king Solomon swear to me to-day that he will not slay his servant
with the sword.
|
| 52. |
And
Solomon said, If he will show himself a worthy man, there shall
not a hair of him fall to the earth: but if wickedness shall be
found in him, he shall die.
|
| 53. |
So
king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And
he came and bowed himself to king Solomon: and Solomon said to him,
Go to thy house.
|
|
| 1.
|
Now
King David was old and far on in years; and though they put covers
over him, his body was cold.
|
| 2.
|
So
his servants said to him, Let search be made for a young virgin
for my lord the king, to take care of him and be waiting on him;
and you may take her in your arms, and so my lord the king will
be warm.
|
| 3.
|
So
after searching through all the land of Israel for a fair young
girl, they saw Abishag the Shunammite, and took her to the king.
|
| 4.
|
Now
she was very beautiful; and she took care of the king, waiting on
him at all times; but the king had no connection with her.
|
| 5.
|
Then
Adonijah, the son of Haggith, lifting himself up in pride, said,
I will become king; and he made ready his carriages of war and his
horsemen, with fifty runners to go before him.
|
| 6.
|
Now
all his life his father had never gone against him or said to him,
Why have you done so? and he was a very good-looking man, and younger
than Absalom.
|
| 7.
|
And
he had talk with Joab, the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the
priest; and they were on his side and gave him their support.
|
| 8.
|
But
Zadok the priest, and Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the
prophet and Shimei and Rei, and David's men of war did not take
the side of Adonijah.
|
| 9.
|
Then
Adonijah put to death sheep and oxen and fat beasts by the stone
of Zoheleth, by En-rogel; and he sent for all his brothers, the
king's sons, and all the men of Judah, the king's servants, to come
to him:
|
| 10.
|
But
he did not send for Nathan the prophet and Benaiah and the other
men of war and Solomon his brother.
|
| 11.
|
Then
Nathan said to Bath-sheba, the mother of Solomon, Has it not come
to your ears that Adonijah, the son of Haggith, has made himself
king without the knowledge of David our lord?
|
| 12.
|
So
now, let me make a suggestion, so that you may keep your life safe
and the life of your son Solomon.
|
| 13.
|
Come
now, go to King David and say to him, Did you not, O my lord, take
an oath to me, your servant, saying, Truly Solomon your son will
be king after me, seated on the seat of my kingdom? why then is
Adonijah acting as king?
|
| 14.
|
And
while you are still talking there with the king, see, I will come
in after you and say that your story is true.
|
| 15.
|
Then
Bath-sheba went into the king's room; now the king was very old,
and Abishag the Shunammite was waiting on him.
|
| 16.
|
And
Bath-sheba went down on her face on the earth before the king giving
him honour. And he said, What is your desire?
|
| 17.
|
And
she said to him, My lord, you took an oath by the Lord your God
and gave your word to your servant, saying, Truly, Solomon your
son will be king after me, seated on the seat of my kingdom.
|
| 18.
|
And
now, see, Adonijah has made himself king without my lord's knowledge;
|
| 19.
|
And
has put to death oxen and fat beasts and sheep in great numbers,
and has sent for all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest,
and Joab, the captain of the army; but he has not sent for Solomon
your servant.
|
| 20.
|
And
now, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, waiting
for you to say who is to take the place of my lord the king after
him.
|
| 21.
|
For
as things are, it will come about, when my lord the king is sleeping
with his fathers, that I and Solomon my son will be made outlaws.
|
| 22.
|
And
while she was still talking with the king, Nathan the prophet came
in.
|
| 23. |
And
they said to the king, Here is Nathan the prophet. And when he came
in before the king, he went down on his face on the earth.
|
| 24. |
And
Nathan said, O my lord king, have you said, Adonijah is to be king
after me, seated on the seat of my kingdom?
|
| 25. |
Because
today he has gone down and has put to death oxen and fat beasts
and sheep in great numbers, and has sent for all the king's sons
to come to him, with the captains of the army and Abiathar the priest;
and they are feasting before him and crying, Long life to King Adonijah!
|
| 26. |
But
me, your servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah, the son of
Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon, he has not sent for.
|
| 27. |
Has
this thing been done by my lord the king, without giving word to
your servants who was to be placed on my lord the king's seat after
him?
|
| 28. |
Then
King David in answer said, Send for Bath-sheba to come to me. And
she came in and took her place before the king.
|
| 29. |
And
the king took an oath, and said, By the living Lord, who has been
my saviour from all my troubles,
|
| 30. |
As
I took an oath to you by the Lord, the God of Israel, saying, Certainly
Solomon your son will become king after me, seated on my seat in
my place; so will I do this day.
|
| 31. |
Then
Bath-sheba went down on her face on the earth before the king giving
him honour, and said, May my lord King David go on living for ever.
|
| 32. |
And
King David said, Send for Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet,
and Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king.
|
| 33. |
And
the king said to them, Take with you the servants of your lord,
and put Solomon my son on my beast, yes, mine, and take him down
to Gihon;
|
| 34. |
And
there let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet put the holy oil
on him to make him king over Israel; and sounding the horn say,
Long life to King Solomon!
|
| 35. |
Then
come up after him and he will come in and take his place on the
seat of my kingdom; for he is to be king in my place, and I have
given orders that he is to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.
|
| 36. |
And
Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, answering the king, said, So be it:
and may the Lord, the God of my lord the king, say so.
|
| 37. |
As
the Lord has been with my lord the king, even so may he be with
Solomon and make the seat of his authority greater than that of
my lord King David.
|
| 38. |
So
Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, the son of
Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, went down and
put Solomon on King David's beast and took him to Gihon.
|
| 39. |
And
Zadok the priest took the vessel of oil out of the Tent, and put
the holy oil on Solomon. And when the horn was sounded, all the
people said, Long life to King Solomon!
|
| 40. |
And
all the people came up after him, piping with pipes, and they were
glad with great joy, so that the earth was shaking with the sound.
|
| 41. |
And
it came to the ears of Adonijah and all the guests who were with
him, when their meal was ended. And Joab, hearing the sound of the
horn, said, What is the reason of this noise as if the town was
worked up?
|
| 42. |
And
while the words were on his lips, Jonathan, the son of Abiathar
the priest, came; and Adonijah said, Come in; for you are a man
of good faith and the news which you have for us will be good.
|
| 43. |
And
Jonathan, answering, said to Adonijah, Not so, but our lord King
David has made Solomon king:
|
| 44. |
And
he sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah,
the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and
they put him on the king's beast:
|
| 45. |
And
Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet put the holy oil on him
and made him king in Gihon; and they came back from there with joy,
and the town was all worked up. This is the noise which has come
to your ears.
|
| 46. |
And
now Solomon is seated on the seat of the kingdom.
|
| 47. |
And
the king's servants came to our lord King David, blessing him and
saying, May God make the name of Solomon better than your name,
and the seat of his authority greater than your seat; and the king
was bent low in worship on his bed.
|
| 48. |
Then
the king said, May the God of Israel be praised, who has given one
of my seed to be king in my place this day and has let my eyes see
it.
|
| 49. |
And
all the guests of Adonijah got up in fear and went away, every man
to his place.
|
| 50. |
And
Adonijah himself was full of fear because of Solomon; and he got
up and went to the altar, and put his hands on its horns.
|
| 51. |
And
they gave Solomon word of it, saying, See, Adonijah goes in such
fear of King Solomon, that he has put his hands on the horns of
the altar, saying, Let King Solomon first give me his oath that
he will not put his servant to death with the sword.
|
| 52. |
And
Solomon said, If he is seen to be a man of good faith, not a hair
of him will be touched; but if any wrongdoing is seen in him, he
is to be put to death.
|
| 53. |
So
King Solomon sent, and they took him down from the altar. And he
came and gave honour to King Solomon; and Solomon said to him, Go
to your house.
|
|
| 1.
|
And
king David is old, entering into days, and they cover him
with garments, and he hath no heat,
|
| 2.
|
and
his servants say to him, 'Let them seek for my lord the king a young
woman, a virgin, and she hath stood before the king, and is to him
a companion, and hath lain in thy bosom, and my lord the king hath
heat.'
|
| 3.
|
And
they seek a fair young woman in all the border of Israel, and find
Abishag the Shunammite, and bring her in to the king,
|
| 4.
|
and
the young woman is very very fair, and she is to the king
a companion, and serveth him, and the king hath not known her.
|
| 5.
|
And
Adonijah son of Haggith is lifting himself up, saying, 'I do reign;'
and he prepareth for himself a chariot and horsemen, and fifty men
running before him,
|
| 6.
|
and
his father hath not grieved him all his days, saying, 'Wherefore
thus hast thou done?' and he also is of a very good form,
and his mother bare him after Absalom.
|
| 7.
|
And
his words are with Joab son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest,
and they help after Adonijah;
|
| 8.
|
and
Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet,
and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty ones whom David hath, have not
been with Adonijah.
|
| 9.
|
And
Adonijah sacrificeth sheep and oxen and fatlings near the stone
of Zoheleth, that is by En-Rogel, and calleth all his brethren,
sons of the king, and for all the men of Judah, servants of the
king;
|
| 10.
|
and
Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty ones, and Solomon
his brother, he hath not called.
|
| 11.
|
And
Nathan speaketh unto Bath-Sheba, mother of Solomon, saying, 'Hast
thou not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith hath reigned, and our
lord David hath not known?
|
| 12.
|
and
now, come, let me counsel thee, I pray thee, and deliver thy life,
and the life of thy son Solomon;
|
| 13.
|
go
and enter in unto king David, and thou hast said unto him, Hast
thou not, my lord, O king, sworn to thy handmaid, saying, Surely
Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne?
and wherefore hath Adonijah reigned?
|
| 14.
|
Lo,
thou are yet speaking there with the king, and I come in after thee,
and have completed thy words.'
|
| 15.
|
And
Bath-Sheba cometh in unto the king, to the inner chamber, and the
king is very aged, and Abishag the Shunammite is serving
the king:
|
| 16.
|
and
Bath-Sheba boweth and doth obeisance to the king, and the king saith,
`What -- to thee?'
|
| 17.
|
And
she saith to him, 'My lord, thou hast sworn by Jehovah thy God to
thy handmaid: Surely Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he
doth sit on my throne;
|
| 18.
|
and
now, lo, Adonijah hath reigned, and now, my lord, O king, thou hast
not known;
|
| 19.
|
and
he sacrificeth ox, and fatling, and sheep in abundance, and calleth
for all the sons of the king, and for Abiathar the priest, and for
Joab head of the host -- and for Solomon thy servant he hath not
called.
|
| 20.
|
And
thou, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel are on thee,
to declare to them who doth sit on the throne of my lord the king
after him;
|
| 21.
|
and
it hath been, when my lord the king lieth with his fathers, that
I have been, I and my son Solomon -- reckoned sinners.'
|
| 22.
|
And
lo, she is yet speaking with the king, and Nathan the prophet hath
come in;
|
| 23. |
and
they declare to the king, saying, 'Lo, Nathan the prophet;' and
he cometh in before the king, and boweth himself to the king, on
his face to the earth.
|
| 24. |
And
Nathan saith, 'My lord, O king, thou hast said, Adonijah doth reign
after me, and he doth sit on my throne;
|
| 25. |
for
he hath gone down to-day, and doth sacrifice ox, and fatling, and
sheep, in abundance, and calleth for all the sons of the king, and
for the heads of the host, and for Abiathar the priest, and lo,
they are eating and drinking before him, and they say, Let king
Adonijah live!
|
| 26. |
'And
for me -- me, thy servant, and for Zadok the priest, and for Benaiah,
son of Jehoiada, and for Solomon thy servant, he hath not called;
|
| 27. |
if
from my lord the king this thing hath been, then thou hast not caused
thy servant to know who doth sit on the throne of my lord the king
after him.'
|
| 28. |
And
king David answereth and saith, 'Call for me for Bath-Sheba;' and
she cometh in before the king, and standeth before the king.
|
| 29. |
And
the king sweareth and saith, 'Jehovah liveth, who hath redeemed
my soul out of all adversity;
|
| 30. |
surely
as I sware to thee by Jehovah, God of Israel, saying, Surely Solomon
thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne in my
stead; surely so I do this day.'
|
| 31. |
And
Bath-Sheba boweth -- face to the earth -- and doth obeisance to
the king, and saith, 'Let my lord, king David, live to the age.'
|
| 32. |
And
king David saith, 'Call for me for Zadok the priest, and for Nathan
the prophet, and for Benaiah son of Jehoiada;' and they come in
before the king.
|
| 33. |
And
the king saith to them, 'Take with you the servants of your lord,
and ye have caused Solomon my son to ride on mine own mule, and
caused him to go down unto Gihon,
|
| 34. |
and
anointed him there hath Zadok the priest -- and Nathan the prophet
-- for king over Israel, and ye have blown with a trumpet, and said,
Let king Solomon live;
|
| 35. |
and
ye have come up after him, and he hath come in and hath sat on my
throne, and he doth reign in my stead, and him I have appointed
to be leader over Israel, and over Judah.'
|
| 36. |
And
Benaiah son of Jehoiada answereth the king, and saith, 'Amen! so
doth Jehovah, God of my lord the king, say;
|
| 37. |
as
Jehovah hath been with my lord the king, so is He with Solomon,
and doth make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king
David.'
|
| 38. |
And
Zadok the priest goeth down, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah
son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite, and they
cause Solomon to ride on the mule of king David, and cause him to
go unto Gihon,
|
| 39. |
and
Zadok the priest taketh the horn of oil out of the tent, and anointeth
Solomon, and they blow with a trumpet, and all the people say, 'Let
king Solomon live.`'
|
| 40. |
And
all the people come up after him, and the people are piping with
pipes, and rejoicing -- great joy, and the earth rendeth with their
voice.
|
| 41. |
And
Adonijah heareth, and all those called, who are with him,
and they have finished to eat, and Joab heareth the noise of the
trumpet, and saith, 'Wherefore is the noise of the city roaring?'
|
| 42. |
He
is yet speaking, and lo, Jonathan son of Abiathar the priest hath
come in, and Adonijah saith, 'Come in, for a man of valour thou
art, and thou bearest good tidings.'
|
| 43. |
And
Jonathan answereth and saith to Adonijah, 'Verily our lord king
David hath caused Solomon to reign,
|
| 44. |
and
the king sendeth with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet,
and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite,
and they cause him to ride on the king`s mule,
|
| 45. |
and
they anoint him -- Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet -- for
king in Gihon, and are come up thence rejoicing, and the city is
moved; it is the noise that ye have heard.
|
| 46. |
'And
also Solomon hath sat on the throne of the kingdom,
|
| 47. |
and
also the servants of the king have come into bless our lord king
David, saying, Thy God doth make the name of Solomon better than
thy name, and his throne greater than thy throne; and the king boweth
himself on the bed,
|
| 48. |
and
also thus hath the king said, Blessed is Jehovah, God of
Israel, who hath given to-day one sitting on my throne, and
mine eyes seeing.'
|
| 49. |
And
they tremble, and rise -- all those called who are for Adonijah
-- and go, each on his way;
|
| 50. |
and
Adonijah feareth because of Solomon, and riseth, and goeth, and
layeth hold on the horns of the altar.
|
| 51. |
And
it is declared to Solomon, saying, 'Lo, Adonijah feareth king Solomon,
and lo, he hath laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let
king Solomon swear to me as to-day -- he doth not put to death his
servant by the sword.'
|
| 52. |
And
Solomon saith, 'If he becometh a virtuous man -- there doth not
fall of his hair to the earth, and if evil is found in him -- then
he hath died.'
|
| 53. |
And
king Solomon sendeth, and they bring him down from off the altar,
and he cometh in and boweth himself to king Solomon, and Solomon
saith to him, 'Go to thy house.'
|
|
| 1.
|
Now
king David was old, and advanced in years: and when he was covered
with clothes, he was not warm.
|
| 2.
|
His
servants therefore said to him: Let us seek for our lord the king,
a young virgin, and let her stand before the king, and cherish him,
and sleep in his bosom, and warm our lord the king.
|
| 3.
|
So
they sought a beautiful young woman in all the coasts of Israel,
and they found Abisag a Sunamitess, and brought her to the king.
|
| 4.
|
And
the damsel was exceeding beautiful, and she slept with the king:
and served him, but the king did not know her.
|
| 5.
|
And
Adonias the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying: I will be king.
And he made himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run
before him.
|
| 6.
|
Neither
did his father rebuke him at any time, saying: Why hast thou done
this? And he also was very beautiful, the next in birth after Absalom.
|
| 7.
|
And
he conferred with Joab the son of Sarvia, and with Abiathar the
priest, who furthered Adonias's side.
|
| 8.
|
But
Sadoc the priest, and Banaias the son of Joiada, and Nathan the
prophet, and Semei, and Rei, and the strength of David's army was
not with Adonias.
|
| 9.
|
And
Adonias having slain rams and calves, and all fat cattle by the
stone of Zoheleth, which was near the fountain Rogel, invited all
his brethren the king's sons, and all the men of Juda, the king's
servants:
|
| 10.
|
But
Nathan the prophet, and Banaias, and all the valiant men, and Solomon
his brother, he invited not.
|
| 11.
|
And
Nathan said to Bethsabee the mother of Solomon: Hast thou not heard
that Adonias the son of Haggith reigneth, and our lord David knoweth
it not?
|
| 12.
|
Now
then come, take my counsel and save thy life, and the life of thy
son Solomon.
|
| 13.
|
Go,
and get thee in to king David, and say to him: Didst not thou, my
lord O king, swear to me thy handmaid, saying: Solomon thy son shall
reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne? why then doth Adonias
reign?
|
| 14.
|
And
while thou art yet speaking there with the king, I will come in
after thee, and will fill up thy words.
|
| 15.
|
So
Bethsabee went in to the king into the chamber: now the king was
very old, and Abisag the Sunamitess ministered to him.
|
| 16.
|
Bethsabee
bowed herself, and worshipped the king. And the king said to her:
What is thy will?
|
| 17.
|
She
answered and said: My lord, thou didst swear to thy handmaid by
the Lord thy God, saying: Solomon thy son shall reign after me,
and he shall sit on my throne.
|
| 18.
|
And
behold now Adonias reigneth, and thou, my lord the king, knowest
nothing of it.
|
| 19.
|
He
hath killed oxen, and all fat cattle, and many rams, and invited
all the king's sons, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the general
of the army: but Solomon thy servant he invited not.
|
| 20.
|
And
now, my lord O king, the eyes of all Israel are upon thee, that
thou shouldst tell them, who shall sit on thy throne, my lord the
king, after thee.
|
| 21.
|
Otherwise
it shall come to pass, when my lord the king sleepeth with his fathers,
that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders.
|
| 22.
|
As
she was yet speaking with the king, Nathan the prophet came.
|
| 23. |
And
they told the king, saying: Nathan the prophet is here. And when
he was come in before the king, and had worshipped, bowing down
to the ground,
|
| 24. |
Nathan
said: My lord O king, hast thou said: Let Adonias reign after me,
and let him sit upon my throne?
|
| 25. |
Because
he is gone down to day, and hath killed oxen, and fatlings, and
many rams, and invited all the king's sons, and the captains of
the army, and Abiathar the priest: and they are eating and drinking
before him, and saying: God save king Adonias:
|
| 26. |
But
me thy servant, and Sadoc the priest, and Banaias the son of Joiada,
and Solomon thy servant he hath not invited.
|
| 27. |
Is
this word come out from my lord the king, and hast thou not told
me thy servant who should sit on the throne of my lord the king
after him?
|
| 28. |
And
king David answered and said: Call to me Bethsabee. And when she
was come in to the king, and stood before him,
|
| 29. |
The
king swore and said: As the Lord liveth, who hath delivered my soul
out of all distress,
|
| 30. |
Even
as I swore to thee by the Lord the God of Israel, saying: Solomon
thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne in
my stead, so will I do this day.
|
| 31. |
And
Bethsabee bowing with her face to the earth worshipped the king,
saying: May my lord David live for ever.
|
| 32. |
King
David also said: Call me Sadoc the priest, and Nathan the prophet,
and Banaias the son of Joiada. And when they were come in before
the king,
|
| 33. |
He
said to them: Take with you the servants of your lord, and set my
son Solomon upon my mule: and bring him to Gihon.
|
| 34. |
And
let Sadoc the priest, and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king
over Israel: and you shall sound the trumpet, and shall say: God
save king Solomon.
|
| 35. |
And
you shall come up after him, and he shall come, and shall sit upon
my throne, and he shall reign in my stead: and I will appoint him
to be ruler over Israel, and over Juda.
|
| 36. |
And
Banaias the son of Joiada answered the king, saying: Amen: so say
the Lord the God of my lord the king.
|
| 37. |
As
the Lord hath been with my lord the king, so be he with Solomon,
and make his throne higher than the throne of my lord king David.
|
| 38. |
So
Sadoc the priest, and Nathan the prophet went down, and Banaias
the son of Joiada, and the Cerethi, and Phelethi: and they set Solomon
upon the mule of king David, and brought him to Gihon.
|
| 39. |
And
Sadoc the priest took a horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed
Solomon: and they sounded the trumpet, and all the people said:
God save king Solomon.
|
| 40. |
And
all the multitude went up after him, and the people played with
pipes, and rejoiced with a great joy, and the earth rang with the
noise of their cry.
|
| 41. |
And
Adonias, and all that were invited by him, heard it, and now the
feast was at an end: Joab also hearing the sound of the trumpet,
said: What meaneth this noise of the city in an uproar?
|
| 42. |
While
he yet spoke, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came: and
Adonias said to him: Come in, because thou art a valiant man, and
bringest good news.
|
| 43. |
And
Jonathan answered Adonias: Not so: for our lord king David hath
appointed Solomon king.
|
| 44. |
And
hath sent with him Sadoc the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and
Banaias the son of Joiada, and the Cerethi, and Phelethi, and they
have set him upon the king's mule.
|
| 45. |
And
Sadoc the priest, and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king
in Gihon: and they are gone up from thence rejoicing, so that the
city rang again: this is the noise that you have heard.
|
| 46. |
Moreover
Solomon sitteth upon the throne of the kingdom,
|
| 47. |
And
the king's servants going in have blessed our lord king David, saying:
May God make the name of Solomon greater than thy name, and make
his throne greater than thy throne. And the king adored in his bed:
|
| 48. |
And
he said: Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel, who hath given this
day one to sit on my throne, my eyes seeing
|
| 49. |
Then
all the guests of Adonias were afraid, and they all arose and every
man went his way.
|
| 50. |
And
Adonias fearing Solomon, arose, and went, and took hold on the horn
of the altar.
|
| 51. |
And
they told Solomon, saying: Behold Adonias, fearing king Solomon,
hath taken hold of the horn of the altar, saying: Let king Solomon
swear to me this day, that he will not kill his servant with the
sword.
|
| 52. |
And
Solomon said: If he be a good man, there shall not so much as one
hair of his head fall to the ground: but if evil be found in him,
he shall die.
|
| 53. |
Then
king Solomon sent, and brought him out from the altar: and going
in he worshipped king Solomon: and Solomon said to him: Go to thy
house.

et
nuntiaverunt regi dicentes adest Nathan propheta cumque introisset

|

dixit
Nathan domine mi rex tu dixisti Adonias regnet post me et ipse sedeat

Bethsabee in terram vultu adoravit regem dicens vivat dominus meus
rex David in aeternum

dixit
quoque rex David vocate mihi Sadoc sacerdotem et Nathan propheten
et Banaiam filium Ioiadae qui cum ingressi fuissent coram rege

dixit
ad eos tollite vobiscum servos domini vestri et inponite Salomonem

et
respondit Banaias filius Ioiadae regi dicens amen sic loquatur Dominus
Deus domini mei regis
|
| 37. |
quomodo
fuit Dominus cum domino meo rege sic sit cum Salomone et sublimius
faciat solium eius a solio domini mei regis David

ergo Sadoc sacerdos et Nathan propheta et Banaias filius Ioiadae
et Cherethi et Felethi et inposuerunt Salomonem super mulam regis
David et adduxerunt eum in Gion

sumpsitque

civitatis tumultuantis
|
| 42.. |
adhuc
illo loquente Ionathan filius Abiathar sacerdotis venit cui dixit
Adonias ingredere quia vir fortis es et bona nuntians
|
| 43. |
responditque
Ionathan Adoniae nequaquam dominus enim noster rex David regem constituit
Salomonem
|
| 44. |
misitque
|
| 46. |
sed
et Salomon sedit super solio regni
|
| 47. |
et
ingressi servi regis benedixerunt domino nostro regi David dicentes
amplificet Deus nomen Salomonis super nomen tuum et magnificet thronum
eius super thronum tuum et adoravit rex in lectulo suo
|
| 48. |
insuper
et haec locutus est benedictus Dominus Deus Israhel qui dedit hodie
sedentem in solio meo videntibus oculis meis

territi
sunt ergo et surrexerunt omnes qui invitati fuerant ab Adonia et
ivit unusquisque in viam suam
|
| 50. |
Adonias
autem timens Salomonem surrexit et abiit tenuitque cornu altaris
|
| 51. |
et
nuntiaverunt Salomoni dicentes ecce Adonias timens regem Salomonem
tenuit cornu altaris dicens iuret mihi hodie rex Salomon quod non
interficiat servum suum gladio
|
| 52. |
dixitque
Salomon si fuerit vir bonus non cadet ne unus quidem capillus eius
in terram sin autem malum inventum fuerit in eo morietur
|
| 53. |
misit
ergo rex Salomon et eduxit eum ab altari et ingressus adoravit regem
Salomonem dixitque ei Salomon vade in domum tuam
|
|
